World Environmental Day Event Scheduled in Starke County

The Starke County Council discussed World Environmental Day during their meeting last week.

Starke County Park Board Office Clerk Angelina Giuliani informed the council that June 5 they will be holding an all day event to raise awareness on the environment. World Environmental Day has been a platform to educate citizens on the environment and the Starke County Park Board joined that effort in raising awareness last year. Giuliani stated there will be speakers that will talk about trees, plants and insects. She added their will be activities and giveaways for kids as well as walking trails and informative hike times.

Speakers include Environmental Educator Paul Steury, Starke County Forest Manager Bruce Wakeland and Randall Dickson of Natural Resources Conservation Service. Free lunch will be available on site. The event is scheduled to start at 9:30 a.m. CT on Wednesday, June 5 at the Starke County Forrest located at 10655 East Division Road Knox, Indiana.
