The Starke County Courthouse second floor remodeling project is almost complete.
In a previous Starke County Commissioner meeting, the commissioners approved Keener Construction’s bid of $169,250 for the areas on the second floor involved in the project. The commissioners also approved purchasing new office furniture during that same meeting. A bid of $12,039.37 from Kemp’s Office City was approved. The bid entailed new desks, conference tables, chairs, filing cabinets and other office furniture needed to bring the second floor of the courthouse up to date. It was noted the updates would keep the motif of the original building design, so that the historical architecture wouldn’t be disturbed.
Starke County Auditor Rachel Oesterreich told WKVI News the remodeling is 98 percent complete.
