The North Judson Town Council discussed a Drive Clean Indiana Initiative grant during their meeting last week.
North Judson Clerk-Treasurer Andrew Rowe told WKVI News the town of North Judson has been awarded a 80/20 matching grant through the Indiana Office of Energy Development. Rowe says this will go toward installing a level two electric charging station in the town of North Judson. He stated the location to have the charging station installed would be somewhere between the water tower and the town park for motorists to have easy access.
It was noted North Judson Town Manager Joe Lesek and Clerk-Treasurer Rowe have been working together on the potential project. Rowe stated 80 percent of the total cost would come from the state while the remaining 20 percent would come from the town. He stated the estimated cost for the town could be anywhere between $4,000 to $6,000 but told council members there may be a possibility to have that paid for through another grant as well.
Rowe informed council members he needed their approval to move forward with submitting a letterhead to the Indiana Office of Energy Development by Tuesday, June 25. A motion was made to have a letterhead submitted. That motion was seconded and passed unanimously by vote.
