The Pulaski County Council discussed new health department positions during their meeting Monday.
In a previous Pulaski County Commissioner meeting, three new positions were approved for the health department. Pulaski County Director of Environmental Health/Foods Edwina Guffey informed commissioners they are currently in need of a part-time immunization nurse, a part-time septic permit officer and a part-time emergency preparedness officer. It was stated, there is money available for the part-time positions through the Vaccines for Children grant involving the immunization nurse, Health Department Fund 8912 for the septic permit officer and an Indiana Department of Health (IDOH) grant that deals with emergency preparedness.
On Monday, Pulaski County Council President Ken Boswell stated the health department was scheduled to seek approval for the three new positions as well. He added, they weren’t prepared to make the presentation during the meeting and stated they would be returning in August to continue discussions for approval.
