Knox City Council Continues Discussion on Added Stop Signs

The Knox City Council discussed recently added stop signs during their meeting Tuesday.

Since last year, the council has added stop signs to the intersection of Main and Potter Streets, Main and Delaware Streets, Adams and Portland Streets, Mound and Pearl Streets with the most recent being at the intersection of John and Fisher Streets. Knox City Council member Bill Gustafson stated he had spoken with several residents on the west side of town where recent stop signs have been added. He stated, those individuals were very happy with the new stop signs and appreciated the council making it happen.

City of Knox Mayor Dennis Estok announced there are more requests the council will consider in the coming months. He added, they are continuing to look at potential locations throughout the entire city, especially locations that would benefit from adding stop signs. It was mentioned Henry Drive is a location the council will be looking at. Mayor Estok said he is also looking into an Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) grant that could potentially be helpful in funding these types of projects in the future.

He stated he would find out more information on the grant and report back to the council at a future meeting.
