Starke County Commissioners Approve New Position for BZA

The Starke County Commissioners discussed adding a new full-time position to the Board of Zoning Appeals (BZA) during their meeting last week.

Planning Commission Administrator Mary Beever came before the commissioners requesting a full-time position be added to the BZA department. She stated the position would work three days for the BZA and two days for the Planning Commission. She went on to say this position would eliminate the need for a part-time position that currently works for the for BZA.

Beaver stated the DNR has transferred all permitting for piers at Bass Lake to be done by the BZA. She went on to say this would need to be done every year and that this is an extension of what she is currently working on at this time.

Commissioner Charles Chesak made motion to approve the full-time position starting January 1, 2025. That motion was seconded by commissioner Mark Gourley and passed unanimously by vote.
