The Starke County Council discussed renovating the courthouse roof and the old jail during their meeting last week.
Starke County Maintenance Director Rick Green told WKVI News, the courthouse roof is in need of several repairs involving leaks. He stated the roof had been completely renovated in 2014 and this should patch things up to help with longevity. He went on to say SRKM Architects have put blueprints together for renovations at the old jail in Knox which is now the annex 2 building. He stated a new roof will be built along with two new offices and a meeting room for court services to use. He went on to say the north end of annex 2 will have its main meeting room downsized to allow space for two offices that would be used by the health department.
Green stated the council approved the accepting of bids. Anyone interested in submitting bids is asked to contact Maintenance Director Rick Green at 574-772-9125. The deadline to submit bids is Monday, September 9.
