The Starke County Courthouse second floor remodeling project is finalizing updates.
In a previous Starke County Commissioner meeting, the commissioners approved Keener Construction’s bid of $169,250 for the areas on the second floor involved in the project. The commissioners also approved purchasing new office furniture during that same meeting. A bid of $12,039.37 from Kemp’s Office City was approved. The bid entailed new desks, conference tables, chairs, filing cabinets and other office furniture needed to bring the second floor of the courthouse up to date. It was noted the updates would keep the motif of the original building design, so that the historical architecture wouldn’t be disturbed.
Starke County Clerk Bernadette Manuel told WKVI News the project is the closest it has ever been to being complete. She added there are minor updates still needed but overall, the 2nd floor of the courthouse is looking very nice. Manuel stated the clerk’s office is very happy with the renovations.
She added, these updates were desperately needed.
