The Starke County Council discussed an amendment to the salary ordinance during their meeting Monday.
In a previous Starke County Commissioner meeting, IT Director Stanley Budd formally asked the commissioners to amend the current salary ordinance so that the recently hired IT assistant, Luke Cook, could be paid through the end of this year. It was noted the amount of pay needed to finish the year was $14,400 divided by nine pay periods. The commissioners moved forward with approving the amendment to the salary ordinance.
During the council meeting on Monday, it was noted, Cook has already been working as the assistant to the IT Director for three weeks. IT Director Budd stated, he has been able to pay Cook out of the IT Department’s budget while awaiting the approval from the council. After more discussion, a motion was made to approve the amended salary ordinance to allow Cook to be paid through the end of this year. That motion was seconded and passed unanimously by vote.
