The Knox Board of Public Works discussed purchasing a new slide gate for the wastewater treatment facility during their meeting Wednesday.
City of Knox Mayor Dennis Estok informed WKVI News there have been some safety concerns at the wastewater treatment facility. He stated the facility is a restricted area and there is not a proper gate to keep pedestrians away from entering. It was noted a new electric slide gate would be the appropriate measure to take to ensure the wastewater treatment facility is secure.
Mayor Estok stated an estimate of $17,149.32 was brought forth before the board to consider. The new electric slide gate would only give access to wastewater treatment facility employees and secure the building. Estok stated the board approved the purchase of a new slide gate in the amount of $17,149.32 unanimously by vote.
