Knox Board of Works Discusses Properties under Code Enforcement

Knox Director of Building, Planning and Code Compliance Lonnie Boley updated the Knox Board of Works members on several properties under code enforcement during their recent meeting.

Boley said that he spoke to the property owner at 351 E. Washington Street at the end of the prior meeting. He said the property is about 80 percent now into compliance, a month later. While there remains some building garbage, a couple of tractors and bikes, there is an effort being made to clean the property.

He let the board know that the property is still under continuous enforcement.

Another property discussed was 253 E. Washington Street. Boley stated that the property has been under code enforcement for “quite a while.” He said the siding work is almost done. The board previously imposed a $2,500 fine for lack of compliance, and Boley asked the board, on behalf of the property owner, to suspend the $2,500 fine to see if the city can get continued compliance with the rest of the work yet to be done. There is still some work that needs to be done, but Boley and Mayor Dennis Estok said the property is looking nice.

The board decided to leave the fine as it is.
