
According to the Knox Center Township Fire Department, on Friday, September 5th at approximately 05:53am Central Time, Engine 2 and Tanker 2 responded to a residential structure fire on Roosevelt Road in Knox.
Engine 2 arrived on scene to find a small single story, single family dwelling with heavy fire showing from the attached garage with advanced extension into the attic space. There were reports of someone possibly entrapped within the residence. KFD members immediately initiated an aggressive attack and began searching for life. The fire was brought under control without incident and the primary searched proved to be negative.
The cause is still under investigation.
Hamlet Fire, North Judson Fire, Bass Lake Fire, Washington Twp. Fire, Starke County EMS, Starke County EMA, Starke County Sheriff’s Deputies, Knox Police, and NIPSCO Gas and Electric also responded to the scene.
