
The Food Bank of Northern Indiana has announced their Mobile Food Distribution dates for the month of October.
The dates for Starke and La Porte Counties are as follows:
Starke County
- Today, Wednesday October 1st there will be a food distribution site at Knox United Methodist Church from 11am – 1pm Central Time. The church is located at 201 Shield Street in Knox. This distribution is sponsored by Indiana OCRA and USDA and will serve 150 households.
- Monday October 13th from 9am – 10:30am Central Time, at Heartland Church located at 6020 South 300 East in Knox. This distribution is sponsored by Indiana OCRA and will serve 150 households.
La Porte County
- Wednesday October 22nd, from 9am to 10:30am Central Time at the La Porte Salvation Army located at 3240 Monroe Street. This distribution is sponsored by Indiana OCRA and will serve 150 households.
- Also on Wednesday October 22nd, from 1 – 2:30pm Central Time, at the First Church of God, located at 2020 East Lincolnway in La Porte. This distributation is sponsored by Indiana OCRA and will serve 150 households.
- On Thursday, October 23rd, from 11am – 12:30pm central time, at High Praise Outreach Ministries, located at 301 East 9th Street in Michigan City. This distribution is sponsored by the City of Michigan City, and will serve 250 households.
- On Wednesday, October 29th, from 10am – noon central time, at the La Porte County Fairgrounds, which is located at 2581 Indiana 2 in La Porte. This distribution is sponsored by Citizens Concerned for the Homeless and will serve 300 households.
All of these events are while supplies last, and they all offer assorted food items free of charge. All items are pre-boxed and pre-bagged, and first come first served with one box/bag per household.
These distributions are all drive-through which means you should remain in your vehicle and open your trunk to receive items. There will be a separate area available for self-loading if your trunk does not open.
