STARKE COUNTY – The Starke County Community Foundation, a fund affiliate of the Northern Indiana Community Foundation, is pleased to announce that the First National Bank of Monterey has made a generous $2,000 contribution to establish its own community fund.

This donation will be tripled thanks to the Lilly Endowment GIFT VIII $2-for-$1 matching program, resulting in a $6,000 total impact that will benefit charitable organizations and initiatives in Starke County for years to come.

“The First National Bank of Monterey is excited to collaborate with the Starke County Community Foundation,” said the bank in a statement. “As a bank, we believe in supporting our local communities. We’re proud to donate $2,000 to help ensure continued support for Starke County organizations and businesses.”

The new First National Bank of Monterey Community Fund will provide grants annually that strengthen local nonprofits and community projects. Community funds like this one play a powerful role in building a permanent source of charitable support ensuring that local needs can be met not just today, but for generations to come.

“We’re grateful to the FNBM for their gift to start a new community fund,” said Jacque Ryan, SCCF Director of Development. “It’s exciting to see that initial donation triple to $6,000 through the SCCF Community Fund Matching Campaign and to know that their fund will continue to make an impact on Starke County nonprofits and charitable groups for years to come. I hope other altruistic businesses and generous community members will be inspired to make a difference with their dollars during the season of giving.”

The matching opportunity is available until December 31, 2025, or until matching funds are depleted. Pledges are also accepted if fulfilled by December 31, 2027.
