A press release from the La Porte County Sheriff states that on Friday, November 21st at 9:09pm, deputies responded to State Road 2 and County Road 500 East, in reference to a crash involving two motor vehicles.
The initial on-scene investigation completed by Deputy Adam Needles and assisting deputies determined the following had occurred:
A vehicle being operated by 43- year-old Michael S. Munroe of Lansing Illinois was traveling west on State Road 2. As the vehicle passed County Road 500 East, the vehicle was struck by a pickup truck operated by 42-year-old Matthew J. Turner of Crawfordville, Florida.
The truck operated by Turner was traveling east on State Road 2 in the westbound lane of travel which resulted in the vehicles colliding. Both Munroe and Turner were pronounced dead at the scene.
Members of the Fatal Alcohol Crash Team and the Criminal Investigation Division responded to the scene.
Toxicology tests results are pending. No further information is available for release at this time.
