The Starke County Planning Commission Administrator has announced an updated location for the December 4th public hearing on a data center moratorium.
The meeting has been moved to a new location due to the anticipation of a large public attendance; and in order to ensure enough space and accommodation for all attendees. The meeting will now be held at the Knox High School Auditorium, located at #1 Redskin Trail. Those attending should enter through Door #10.
The meeting time remains the same; 5:30pm Central Time. The official notice reads as follows:
Notice is hereby given that the Starke County Planning Commission will hold a Public Hearing on the following proposal:
The Planning Commission will consider a temporary twelve (12) month moratorium on the acceptance, processing, or approval of any building permits, improvement location permits, or
site plan applications for Hyperscale Data Center Projects within the unincorporated areas of Starke County, Indiana.
For purposes of this moratorium, a “Hyperscale Data Center Project” shall mean any structure or complex of structures exceeding 5,000 square feet in total floor area, designed or intended
primarily for housing data processing equipment, servers, or related cooling, energy, or communications infrastructure.
The purpose of the proposed moratorium is to allow the County sufficient time to evaluate and adopt zoning regulations addressing such uses, including but not limited to infrastructure
