North Judson Middle Schoolers create wooden toy cars for children in traumatic situations

North Judson-San Pierre Middle School recently shared that Mr. Shively’s Intro to Construction classes made a donation to the North Judson Police Department.

Middle school students taking the beginning construction class learned how to use old-fashioned hand tools and constructed wooden race cars. They donated their cars to the North Judson Police Department, who shares that the handmade cars will be used by officers during traumatic situations or calls where young children are sometimes effected. North Judson Police Department states that by no fault of their own, many times kids are in uncomfortable or unfamiliar situations where they don’t have their own toys or comfort items with them. Officers will have the wooden cars with them as part of their tool kits to help soothe and comfort children in need.

Town Marshall Frank Thomas visited the school to accept the gifts from the students. Each student was individually thanked as they shook his hand and added their car to the donation box.

Students were given the opportunity to create individual license plates for their cars, to help recognize if they come across their car again some day in the future.
