
STARKE COUNTY – The Starke County Auditor’s Office has announced that the Starke County Board of Commissioners is seeking to hire a veteran service officer.
The position is a part-time, administrative position. The Veterans Service Officer advises armed forces veterans and their dependents of benefits available under federal, state, and local laws. The work involves helping determine veterans eligibility for benefits, as well as assisting with completing and submitting required forms, obtaining necessary legal documents, medical reports, and other data necessary.
The announcement states that the applicant should be familiar with basic computer skills and have the ability to learn various veteran records management systems. The applicant will need to complete a training and pass an examination, to become accredited with a nationally recognized veteran service organization.
