The Knox Mayor’s office released a statement today, Wednesday, January 21st, for water customers in the city of Knox.
The announcement states that effective January 22nd, the City of Knox has issued a freeze warning for all water customers; recommending residents leave water running from only one faucet, preferably the bathtub faucet if possible. The stream should be the size of a pencil lead and should be left running until further notice.
The announcement says that customers will be charged their average bill amount for the time this order is in effect.
Further, the announcement recommends to keep crawlspace doors and openings closed to help prevent drafts and help protect exposed water pipes.
Those with questions or issues can contact the Water Department at 574-772-3032; or for a water-related emergency, the Starke County Sheriff’s Office at 574-772-3771.
