Phone Scam warning in Starke County

On Friday, Starke County Court Services shared a public announcement that advises the public of a local scam that has been circulating.

Information was received from the Starke County Sheriff’s Office that someone posing as a Law Enforcement Officer was contacting citizens via telephone and asking for money to release their “loved one” from house arrest or home detention.

The individual identifies themselves as Sergeant Tayler, and these phone calls are a scam. This is a fraudulent scheme that is designed to steal money or personal information.

Starke County Court Services does not operate in that manner, nor do they have a Sergeant Tayler associated with the agency.

Anyone receiving this call should hang up and report the call to the Starke County Sheriff’s Department’s non-emergency number, at 574-772-3771.
