The La Porte County Sheriff’s Office shared information involving a fatal vehicle accident on Highway 421 on January 15th.
The report states that at 8:48am, deputies responded to the 0800 North block of US Highway 421. After an initial investigation, deputies determined that a blue 1999 Ford Ranger had been traveling northbound on 421 when it traveled off the east side of the roadway, struck an embankment, and then struck a tree before coming to a stop.
There was one occupant in the vehicle, the driver; 75-year-old Terry A. Churchill of Westville.
Churchill was transported by ground from the scene and later was pronounced deceased at an area hospital.
La Porte County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by several individuals and agencies, including the Westville Police Department, La Porte County Coroner’s Office, Coolspring Township Volunteer Fire Department, the Indiana Department of Transportation, and Cloverleaf Garage.
