average daily population of 65 residents. The average length of stay was 68 days for felony
arrests and 29 days for misdemeanor arrests.
To enhance operational readiness and improve employee retention, the Justice Center
implemented a comprehensive onboarding program in 2025. This program requires new
personnel to engage directly with their chain of command and complete extensive training in
core competencies and use-of-force protocols prior to assuming daily responsibilities. This
initiative strengthens professional development while ensuring staff are well-prepared to manage
daily operations effectively.
Additionally, the Justice Center expanded its infrastructure by installing a second safety cell to
address the growing frequency of mental health crises. This enhancement provides critical
protection for individuals in acute distress while significantly reducing departmental liability.

In 2025, the dispatch center processed 29,736 total calls, including:

National Police Week activities, and strengthened partnerships with all local schools. The
department also hosted a Women’s Gun Safety Class.
Looking ahead to 2026, the Sheriff’s Office plans to launch its first Citizens Police Academy
and Ride with the Sheriff program.
