Francesville recycling bin guidelines

The Town of Francesville recently shared information on the recycling bin that was delivered to the Von Tobel lot on Monday.

According to town officials, residents who wish to use the bin need to follow the following guidelines, with a note that if the bin is used as a dumpster, it will be taken back and not used again.

Any cardboard boxes should be broken down in order to maximize available space, and no pizza boxes will be accepted.

Paper items are accepted, such as newspapers, mail, books, and magazines. No cigarette butts allowed.

For aluminum items, only beverage cans are acceptable, and plastic items should be only jugs and bottles that have been washed out. The announcement notes that any other plastic items can be taken to county recycling.

For glass items, beverage bottles and food containers only, that have been washed out. No mirrors, plate glass, windows, porcelain, or ceramics are allowed.

The town of Francesville reminds residents who are having trouble discerning if something belongs in the recycling bin: When in doubt, just throw it out!
