
The Starke County Commissioners will be holding a special session this Friday, February 27th. The meeting will take place at 1pm Central Time, and the subject of the meeting is for a report on the status of the Grovertown EMS Base.
According to meeting minutes from the Starke County Board of Commissioner’s February 20th meeting, there is one employee of the Grovertown EMS Base that is currently under medical care with the physician confirming that the illness is related to mold exposure at the base. There are also reports of at least two additional employees who are exhibiting symptoms.
The minutes state that immediate measures that were taken included the deployment quality and radon testing kits, and the scheduling of a formal professional environmental inspection that will take place next Tuesday.
Commissioners at this special session will discuss the potential need for immediate remediation or relocation of staff, and vote on possible emergency action if the environmental data warrants it.
