
The Starke County Public Library System has announced that they are seeking a Children’s Assistant at the library.
The Children’s assistant should have a love of children’s and Young Adult literature and enjoy reading both. The assistant will make title purchase suggestions, create displays and bulletin boards for promotional materials, and create a welcoming, fun, and enriching space for youth and their caregivers, as well as setting behavior boundaries.
The open position averages about 27 hours per week, and candidates must be able to work evenings and some Saturdays.
Applicants should have a high school diploma or equivalent degree, customer service experience, and experience working with children and teens. Public library experience and knowledge of children’s and teen literature is preferred, as are those with excellent communication skills and a working knowledge of technology, social media, popular culture, and electronic resources.
