Starke County Board of Zoning Appeals vacates actions from February 11th public hearings

On Thursday, the Starke County Board of Zoning Appeals made an announcement in regards to the meeting and public hearings that were held the previous evening, Wednesday, February 11th.

All three petitions that were originally heard and voted on during that meeting have been rescheduled for a new public hearing, to be held on Tuesday, March 3rd, at 5:30pm Central Time, at the Starke County Annex 1’s Meeting Room, located at 53 East Mound Street in Knox.

The announcement states that the actions of the board are being vacated and re-scheduled because of an issue with the required newspaper notice for public hearings.

The three hearings that have been re-scheduled are all in regards to variance requests, including one for an accessory structure for 4-H animals, reduced setbacks on an accessory structure, and a second dwelling/undersized structure.

This is the second county meeting of 2026 that has been re-scheduled due to issues with notice submission to local newspapers, though no actions were vacated in the other instance as it was caught before the meeting took place.

All interested persons are invited to attend the re-scheduled meeting and to be heard. Written comments may also be submitted to the Planning Commission Office prior to the hearings, and will be read aloud during the hearings.
