According to an announcement from the Starke County Surveyor’s Office, made on Tuesday, the Indiana Woods on Wheels exhibit will be coming to the Kankakee Fish and Wildlife Area on June 6th, World Environmental Day.
The event is sponsored by the Indiana Hardwood Lumbermens Association (or IHLA), the Indiana Department of Natural Resources, and Purdue University Forestery and Natural Resources division; and is hosted by the Starke County Surveyor’s Office and the Kankakee Fish and Wildlife Area.
Woods on Wheels provides attendees with information about Indiana’s forests with interactive displays that cover multiple topics in forestry. Visitors to the exhibit will learn about the benefits of forest management, the history of Indiana’s forests, and the industries in the state that rely on our forests to function. The exhibit is aimed at 4th-6th grade students, but also includes information for high school students who are interested in a possible career in forestry, as well as resources and information for everyone.
The public is invited to come see this traveling interactive exhibit on June 6th at the Kankakee Fish and Wildlife Area.
