
The deadline is approaching to apply or nominate projects for the 2026 Governor’s Awards for Environmental Excellence.
The awards, sponsored by Indiana Department of Environmental Management, or IDEM, are open to projects that occurred in Indiana and were implemented in 2024 or 2025.
Nominations may be submitted by citizens, government agencies, businesses, organizations, or educational institutions; and self-nominations or applications are also encouraged.
IDEM and the Governor’s Office will present 7 awards, one each for the following categories:
- Energy Efficiency and Renewable Resources
- Environmental Education and Outreach
- Five-Year Continuous Improvement
- Greening the Government
- Land Use and Conservation
- Pollution Prevention
- Recycling/Reuse
The deadline for nominations is next Friday, March 13th. All applications will be reviewed by a panel of conservation, environmental, and academic professionals, who will provide feedback based on project innovation, measurable results, and transferability.
