Starke County Commissioners to meet March 16

The Starke County Commissioners will be holding a regular meeting this upcoming Monday, March 16th.

The meeting will be held at 8:30am Central Time and will be held at the Starke County Annex Building, located at 53 East Mound Street in Knox.

Commissioners will review Vendor and Payroll Claims, as well as minutes from the February 2nd meeting.

Discussion will be held on participating in an Opioid settlement agreement, and Commissioners will discuss key approval for a county employee.

Following these discussions, the Commissioners will receive monthly reports from both EMS and from the Starke County Economic Development Foundation.

Commissioners will hear from Jake McIntire from the Knox Middle School PTO, who are currently crowdfunding money for an outdoor Play and Learn space for Knox Middle School. If the project reaches $50,000 in donations by April 1st, that amount will be matched by a grant from the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority.

The next item on the agenda is discussion on a Capital Improvement Plan, followed by discussion with Maintenance in regards to an elevator at Annex Building 2.

Commissioners will discuss a certificate sale, and will hear from Community Corrections in regards to a letter of support for a grant application.

The County Treasurer will provide an update on the county’s bank reconciliation efforts, and the Highway department will provide monthly reports.

After a discussion with Building Commissioner in regards to an unsafe structure hearing, and any other business that may come before the board, the meeting will be adjourned. The public is invited to attend this meeting.
