Starke County EMS reported this week that its crews underwent some focused training.
In an announcement on Tuesday, Starke County EMS shared that crews went through specialized training on difficult airway management.
The training session reminded attendees how to quickly recognize signs of a compromised airway, as well as advanced techniques on how to assist.
The training included proper usage of equipment and important coordinating and communication skills to use in high-pressure situations.
The announcement stated that since difficult airways are unpredictable, preparedness and rehearsal of skills can save time and lives. Additionally, it states that regular simulation of different situations helps to build confidence and reduce errors in real calls.
The announcement ended with Starke County EMS expressing gratitude towards instructors and crew members who participated.
