Oregon-Davis School Board Approves High School Course Description Guide

An updated course description guide for Oregon-Davis Junior/Senior High School was recently approved by the school board. Superintendent Bill Bennett said school officials are planning some new options for junior high students. “I’m real excited to hear that we’re going to offer some more honors classes at our junior high level and give them those experiences,” he said.

Hamlet Council Gives Garage Owner another Month before Imposing $5,000 Fine

The Hamlet Town Council has given the owner of a dilapidated garage another 30 days to clean up the structure before imposing a $5,000 fine. The fine was approved during this month’s zoning board meeting, after town officials said Louis Gorgees failed to repair or demolish the structure on Railroad Street near the former bank building.

Pulaski County Eases New Restrictions on Ambulance Transfers, Authorizes Non-EMT EMS Drivers

Pulaski County is easing its new restrictions on ambulance transfers, following discussions with hospital officials. Earlier this month, the county commissioners voted to reduce the transfer radius from 100 to 65 miles, to extend the life of the county’s ambulances. But that raised concern from doctors, since that puts the major trauma centers out of reach.

Marshall, Starke, Pulaski Counties Remain in Blue on Indiana’s COVID-19 Map

Marshall, Starke, and Pulaski counties remain in the blue on the Indiana Department of Health’s County Metrics Map this week. That means there’s a low level of COVID-19 spread. But Fulton and White counties are among the seven coded yellow, the next level up. No counties are in the high-spread orange or red categories.

Pulaski County Chamber Announces Halleck Award Recipients for 2020, 2021

The Pulaski County Chamber of Commerce is giving out not one, but two, H.J. Halleck Community Service Awards. Pulaski residents Paul and Brenda Gilsinger have been named the 2021 Halleck Award recipients, according to a chamber press release. But since no award was given last year, the chamber has also named Betty Kruger of Francesville as the 2020 recipient.
