Summer events may be coming back after a year off due to the pandemic, but in order for that to happen, they’ll need some help. Knox Mayor Dennis Estok told the city council last week that things are lining up for the July 3 Family Fun Day, but they’re still trying to round up volunteers. “These events, it’s like starting all over,” he said. “You know, we’ve lost our continuity a little bit.”

A new source of COVID-19 relief is now available for Indiana hotels and entertainment venues. The Indiana Hospitality & Entertainment Grant program lets qualifying businesses apply for up to a total of $1 million to reimburse expenses from March 1, 2020 to December 31, 2021. Those eligible to apply include hotels, motels, movie theaters, theater companies, and event promoters.

Tomorrow, April 21, the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ will host a drive-through distribution from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. EDT at Ancilla College in Donaldson. They plan to give out more than 500 boxes, with more than 30 pounds of food each.

North Judson’s spring cleanup event was a success, according to Town Marshal Kelly Fisher. She told the town council Monday that about 200 letters were sent before the event to homes that police believed needed attention. The engineering firm helps the town with street and sidewalk projects, and it’s also offered to help put together a five-year park plan.
