Knox Council to Meet Tonight

City_of_Knox_LogoThe Knox City Council has a light agenda for their meeting this evening. There are no specific action items listed on the advance copy. The council discussed amendments to the city’s zoning ordinance two weeks ago to allow tattoo parlors downtown, but did not take action. Concerns were raised during that meeting about preserving the downtown’s historic district, which was cited as a reason for the 500 foot rule that was passed in 2009. Continue reading

Starke County Council Approves Additional CASA Appropriation

 
 

The Starke County Council last week approved an additional appropriation for a program that helps children throughout the community. Rhonda Adcock is the director of Starke County CASA. The acronym stands for Court Appointed Special Advocate. Adcock says it’s an arm of Starke Circuit Court, with volunteers who advocate for children who are in family court due to abuse or neglect. The Oregon-Davis School Board will meet in special session tonight to approve a teacher contract for the current school year. That’s one of the items on the agenda for the 6 p.m. meeting at the administration building. Members will also discuss Hoosier Funds and consider a request to move the December board meeting from the 12th to the 19th at 6:30 p.m.
