Alice (Dembowski) Condon was born on March 12, 1932, in Chicago, Illinois, to the late Edward and Irene (Poczworowski) Dembowski.
In 1944, she moved with her family to Knox, Indiana, where she made her home for the remainder of her life.
Alice graduated from Knox High School in 1950. While still in high school, she began her working career as a telephone operator for United Telephone Company. She later worked as a teletype operator at the Kingsbury Ordnance Plant. Alice continued her career at Howmet Corporation, from which she retired in 1988 after many years of dedicated service.
On March 24, 1951, Alice married Ralph J. Condon at Camp Breckinridge, Kentucky. The ceremony was officiated by Major Father John McGoohan. Together, Alice and Ralph built a life centered on faith, family, and community.
Alice was an active and devoted member of St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Knox, where she belonged to the Ladies of the Altar and Rosary Society. She also served her community through leadership roles, including past President of the Ladies VFW Auxiliary and past President of the Starke County Hospital Auxiliary. In addition, she was a member of the Starke County Historical Society.
Alice is survived by her loving husband, Ralph J. Condon; her two sons, Steve (Sandy) Condon of Glen Ellyn, Illinois, and James (Lori) Condon of Knox, Indiana; and her cherished grandchildren: Kristin (Tim) Ash of Westfield, Indiana; Ashley (Clayton) George of Naperville, Illinois; Keith (Leslie) Condon of Knox, Indiana; Kari (Harrison) Godby of Richmond, Texas; and Matthew (Amanda) Swaim of Montgomery, Illinois.
She is also survived by her beloved great-grandchildren: Landon Ash, Austin Ash, Logan Ash; Caiden George, Sutton George; Carter Condon, Maverick Condon, Vincent Condon; Shepard Godby, Gabriel Godby, Silas Godby, Griffin Godby; Ellie Swaim, Nathaniel Swaim, and Elizabeth Swaim.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Irene (Poczworowski) Dembowski; her brother, Edward Dembowski; and her sister, Margaret (Dembowski) McCormick.
Funeral arrangements are as follows: Visitation will be held on Friday, January 2, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. (CT) at M.C. Smith Funeral Home in Knox, Indiana. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12:00 p.m. (CT) at St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Knox, Indiana. Burial will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery.
Alice will be remembered for her strong work ethic, deep faith, dedication to community service, and unwavering devotion to her family.
