David C. Allen, loving husband, father, grandpa, great grandpa, son and brother, passed away at the age of 79 surrounded by his family on January 8, 2026.
Dave was born March 7, 1946, to the late Basil and Catharine Allen in Hammond, IN.Dave worked for CenturyLink in Knox, IN for over 40 years.
A member of the Collins-Tasch American Legion Post #399 Monterey, IN he proudly served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam War.
Surviving are his wife Pat, children Jennifer Allen, Brian Allen and Lisa (Ron) Owens, grandchildren Chelsey Allen, Brooke Falbe, Corbin Owens and Brady Allen, great granddaughter Delilah and great grandson arriving this spring, Jameson.
Also surviving are brothers Tom (Kathy), Sam (Carla) and sisters Sue (Dick) Winters, Mary (Jim) Shank, brother-in-law Bill Kusturin and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Dave was preceded in death by his beloved sister, Vickie Kusturin.
Dave enjoyed Notre Dame sports, Cubs baseball, playing golf, mowing the grass, especially camping with his kids and his time with his little “Dalulah” as he called her, sharing French fries, playing Jenga, going on wheelchair rides and squashing bugs outside and the showering of goodbye licks on the cheek.
Dave will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
Family and friends will be welcomed Friday January 16, 2026, from 11:00AM EST until the time of service at 12:00PM EST at Odom Funeral Home Culver, IN. Military graveside services will take place at St. Annes Cemeterey, Monterey, IN.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Collins-Tasch American Legion Post #399 in Monterey, IN.
