Gail Lynn Yakimicki, age 66, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, August 10, 2021 after a courageous 17-month battle with cancer.
Gail was born on June 12, 1955 in Knox, Indiana to Walter and Beverly (Crider) Pflugshaupt and was a lifelong resident of the area.
She graduated from Oregon-Davis Junior-Senior High School in 1973, where she met the love of her life and husband of 48 years, Bob Yakimicki. Bob was by her side in sickness and in health for all of Gail’s days and they were truly the definition of the perfect match. Gail was an avid gardener and her beautiful flowers and landscaping were admired and enjoyed by many. She was born with a servant’s heart and her greatest joy in life was taking care of others and lifting people up. She adored her children and her grandchildren and loved making memories with them and creating fun adventures for them on the farm that each of them will treasure and hold close to their hearts forever. Her smile and contagious laughter lit up the room for so many people, she will be deeply missed.
Gail is survived by her adoring husband; Bob Yakimicki; her loving children, Jennifer Yakimicki Guimond (Josh Guimond) of Madison, Wisconsin and Joe Yakimicki (Michelle) of West Lafayette, Indiana and her four grandchildren; that were truly the light of her life, Isaac Yakimicki, Elijah Yakimicki, Ava Guimond and Bella Guimond. Gail is also survived by her mother; Beverly Pflugshaupt, her brother; Dennis Pflugshaupt (Sandy) and her sister; Barb Plugshaupt (Waynette).
She was preceded in death by her father; Walter Pflugshaupt in 2005.
A private service with immediate family is planned and Gail will be laid to rest at New Oak Cemetery in Plymouth, Indiana. Lakeview Funeral Home & Crematory, 247 W. Johnson Rd., La Porte, (219) 362-3100 is caring for the arrangements.
