Howard R. Bashore

KNOX – Howard R. Bashore of Knox passed away on Monday August 2, 2021 in Golden Living Center Knox following an illness. He was born on August 14, 1933 in South Bend to the late Jesse and Myrtle “Irene” (Pinkert) Bashore and was 87 years-old at the time of his death. He lived in Knox since 1962 coming from Lafayette. On March 2, 1956 in Syracuse, IN he married the love of his life Barbara Paugh. Together they spent 65 wonderful years together. Howard was a veteran of the US Air Force serving proudly in the Korean War. He was also a retired Trooper with the Indiana State Police, after which he served as Chief of Police for the Purdue University North Central Police Dept. Howard was a member of the Knox United Methodist Church and was a huge country music fan. Most of all he loved his family unconditionally. And showed this by attending all their sporting events, functions, and band concerts. Howard is survived by his beloved wife Barbara of Knox; three loving daughters LuAnn Matt of Knox, Karen (Jamie) Kring of South Bend, and Julia (Mitchell) McFann of Ft. Wayne; 5 grandchildren Tiffany Hoar, Anthony Matt, Katlyn Lewandowski, Kimberly Langdon, and Darby McFann; and seven great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; one son-in-law Greg Matt; four sisters; and one brother. His wishes were to be cremated, which has taken place. A private family service will be held at a later date. The Rannells Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with Howard’s care and arrangements.
