James N. “Jim” Johnson, age 85, of Knox, passed away Monday, December 16, 2019. Jim was born July 1, 1934 in Decatur, Illinois to Joseph Byrl Johnson and Emma Elizabeth Hurst Johnson, both deceased.
Jim graduated from Ramsay High School in Mt. Pleasant, PA. He married the love of his life Mary Ann Pieszak on October 15, 1955 in Mt. Pleasant, PA. He was the previous co-owner of Kemco in Knox and he also owned and operated Ourco, Inc. in Hamlet.
Throughout the years Jim developed lifelong friendships with those he came in contact with. He was a former member of Rotary Club, enjoyed the Colts, Bears and Steelers games, yard work, and especially his family. He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Johnson of Knox, his children, Lori Ann Cole (Elvis) of Knox, James Joseph Johnson (Jayne) of Knox and Tammy Sue Ringle of Hamlet, 9 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Betty Gatons, Kenny Johnson and Jack Johnson.
A private family memorial will be held at a later date at the Oak Park Cemetery, officiated by Masonic Lodge 639. The family would appreciate memorials in his memory to the Kidney Foundation. M.C. Smith Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
