Nancy A. Sellers

Nancy A. Sellers, age 88 of Knox, passed away Friday, January 16, 2026.

Nancy was born May 2, 1937 in Chicago, Illinois to Robert and Eileen Newton, both deceased.

While she was born in Chicago, she grew up living in Beverly, Illinois and graduated from Lewis College.  For a period of time she lived in Custer, South Dakota where she had a quarter horse and cattle ranch and also worked as a reporter for the Custer Times newspaper.  Throughout her life she had vacationed at Bass Lake and loved visiting relatives that also had places on Bass Lake, so it was no wonder that later in life she moved back to the Knox area.

She was a very active person and had a very colorful working career; she had worked as a secretary at the Geisler Law Offices, a courtroom stenographer, a veterinary assistant to Dr. Gregg Keeker, and had worked nearly 20 years as a loan officer for the Farmers Home Administration, until retirement in April of 1999.

She had a lifelong love of animals and it really showed in her everyday life.  She surrounded herself with all kinds of animals, dogs, cats, horses, cattle, lizards and snakes and even a pet porcupine named “Porkchop”, taking in rescue and stray animals whenever she could and was an avid supporter of 4-H, especially the Horse and Pony Club.  She also loved keeping house plants and aquariums.

In 1980 she married James Sellers, he preceded her in death in May of 2025.  She is survived by her two daughters, Beth Baker of Knox and Bonnie Samuelson of Culver.

Honoring her wishes, there will be no services.  M.C. Smith Funeral Home in Knox is handling arrangements.
