Paul “Pete” D. Corey JR, 87 years old of Knox, In, died Tuesday, November 21, 2017 in 5140 E. 200 S.
He was born Friday, December 20, 1929 in Knox, Indiana, Son of the late Paul Corey and the late Pauline Corey.
On August 30, 1949 in Kentucky Pete married the former Danna Clark, she survives him.
Pete was a true community servant. He served the area in roles as fireman, fire chief, bus driver , EMT and ” jack of all trades”. Pete was a member of the Eagle Creek Church. Pete was a member of the Knox Masonic Lodge #639 and was a two time past master of the lodge. Pete was a member of the South Bend Valley of the Scottish Rite, a Shriner of the Orak Temple of Michigan City, Indiana. Pete loved his community and was involved in numerous Starke County activities. He was an avid sports fan and Notre Dame was his favorite team. He loved watching his children and grandchildren in the Knox High Sports and the Band.
He worked as a manager for Grocery Store and a general contractor.
Surviving are his wife, Danna (Clark) Corey of Knox, Indiana, Daughter, Debbie Corey of Churubusco, Indiana, Daughter, Della(George) Mammarella of Knox, Indiana, Daughter, Holly(John) Bochnicka of North Judson, Indiana, 5 grandchildren, two of which he raised: Corey McLaughlin of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Leah(Corey) Simon of Haubstadt, Indiana, Kelly(Jim) Bolenbaugh of Columbia City, Indiana, Lindsay(Steven Pompy) of Griffith, Indiana, George Scott(Lauren) Mammarella of Monument, Colorado, 3 great-grandchildren Keith Simon, Terry Guston, Lauren Pompy, Sister, Clara Corey, Sister, Betty Gotch of Fort Wayne, Indiana.
He was preceded in death by parents Paul and Pauline Corey, brother Eugene Corey and sisters Hannah Rock, Helen Rodgers and Jane.
Friends will be received 4 to 8 PM, Friday, November 24, 2017 at the at the Braman & Son Memorial Chapel, Knox, Indiana, with Masonic service at 7 PM and Fire Fighter service at 6 PM.
Services will be held at Braman & Son Memorial Chapel, Saturday, November 25, 2017 at 11 AM with Rev. Bruce Bennett officiating.
Interment will follow in the Sugar Creek Cemetery, in Stockland, Illinois.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Knox Fire Department and or Shriners Hospital for Children.
