Sandra “Sandy” G. Jernas

Sandra “Sandy” G. Jernas, 79, of North Judson, was welcomed home by her Lord on All Saints Day, November 1, 2020. Sandy was born into the family of Helen and Ora Klinedinst on March 22, 1941, in Tyner, Indiana. On August 27, 1960, Sandy married C. Jerome “Jerry” Jernas. Together they created a life full of faith, family, and friends.

Sandy was at her happiest when making her house a home, surrounded by her children and grandchildren. She retired after 25 years as banker at the former American State Bank. Sandy was active in various groups at her church, St Peter’s Lutheran, including Artisans, Altar Guild, Cottage Bible Class, and Ladies Aid. For over 40 years she enjoyed getting together with her girl friends to play bunco.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 60 years, Jerry, and her children Denise Jernas, Donnell (Patrick) Bradley, David (Loralee) Jernas, and Dawn (Doug) Jorndt. She was a warm, kind, and loving grandmother to Andrew, Connor (Jessica), Quinn, Jillian, (Chris), Alexandra, and Nicholas. She is also survived by one sister, Sue (Tim) Awald, and preceded in death by her parents along with two brothers, Weir and Roger.
Private graveside services will be held at Highland Cemetery in North Judson.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the memorial contributions can be made to St Peter’s Lutheran Church or the Alzheimer’s Association at act.alz.org .

Sandy’s caring nature and willingness to put others first was exemplified in some of her final words, “if you need anything, or if there is anything you want, just wake me up.”
