Incidents:
03/03/13 A resident on 575 West notified police that a dog was on her property that was hit by a car and needs medical attention.

03/03/13 A Star City resident called police to report that someone slashed her niece’s tire.

03/02/13 A complaintant advised that her car was parked at the Star City Bar and Grill overnight and someone hit it.

03/01/13 A man called to tell police that his wife hit a patch of ice and slid off the road. No damage was done to the vehicle – just some grass in the rims. No injuries were reported.

03/01/13 A Star City resident told police that someone went around a bus on the road and slid off the road and got stuck.

03/01/13 Two mailbox incident were reported on 400 South in Winamac.

03/01/13 A mailbox incident was reported on 100 South in Winamac.

03/01/13 Winamac Police received a call of a reckless driver. The driver told police that he completed a double shift at Tyson and was fatigued. He was on his way home when police conducted a traffic stop.

02/28/13 A caller reported a scam call. She said someone posing as her great grandson called needing help but she could not provide the things “he” was asking for. She did not give the caller any information and reported the call to police.

02/28/13 An intoxicated man allegedly threatened a member of the Department of Child Services.

02/28/13 A county resident told police that she arrived home, found an open window and things were stolen.

02/27/13 The Winamac Police Department investigated a call of broken glass in a bedroom.

02/27/13 A Winamac resident called in a complaint that a 14-year-old on probation left the residence when the complaintant was gone.

02/26/13 The Winamac Fire Department was called to a small brush fire.

02/25/13 Winamac Police Department investigated an accident where Jamie Sheets, 39, hit a parked car, and continued traveling until she struck a tree and garage at a home at 202 N. Riverside Drive. It was later determined that Sheets suffered a heart attack prior to the accident. She was pronounced dead at Pulaski Memorial Hospital.

02/25/13 A resident on 25 S. said two people have the hood up on one of her husband’s trucks and is stealing something.

02/25/13 A call came in about male subjects in a white van attempting to sell meat.

Arrests:
03/04/13 Steven Ford, 23, of San Pierre, IN, arrested on an active arrest warrant for Failure to Appear.

02/28/13 Ollie Clemons, 45, of Winamac, IN, arrested on a bench warrant.

02/28/13 Bradley Kough, 22, of Winamac, IN, arrested on three active arrest warrants.

North Judson Police Department

From the North Judson Police Department:

Incidents:
03/02/13 A resident reported that a theft occurred at the Highland Cemetery when items were stolen from her husband’s gravesite. She requested extra patrols.

03/02/13 Police responded to a couple of animal complaints in the 300 block of North George street. The complaints are being investigated.

02/27/13 Police responded to a shoplifting complaint at Ray’s Super Foods. North Judson Officer Darren Conley arrived and after a brief investigation found that Heidi Lynn Myers, 35, of Winamac, was in possession of items that she did not pay for. Officer Conley filed charges of Theft against her through the Starke County Prosecutor’s Office. Heidi was released from the scene.

02/26/13 Police responded to an animal complaint in the 700 block of Laurel Street. The resident in question was advised of the complaint.

02/26/13 A Battery and Theft complaint was filed by residents in the 200 block of West Weninger Street. North Judson Police Officer Chris Kisela completed a report and filed it with the Starke County Prosecutor’s Office requesting formal charges filed for Battery and Theft on a 19-year-old male.

02/25/13 The North Judson Police Department responded to a property damage accident on State Road 10 near Highland Cemetery. A vehicle driven by Rebecca Barcus, of North Judson, struck a deer. North Judson Officer Frank Thomas estimated the damage over $1000.

Arrests:
02/27/13 Heidi Lynn Myers, 35, of Winamac, IN, arrested on a preliminary charge of Theft.

Incidents:
03/07/13 Linda Banasiak reported her license plate missing.

03/06/13 A hit and run was reported by 601 S. Heaton Street.

03/05/13 Jimmie Spencer reported a hit and run accident on U.S. 35 and Culver Road. Officers arrived at the scene and didn’t find anyone there. The complaintant had left the scene to chase down the person who rear-ended his car and took off. He returned to the scene where he gave police his statement.

03/03/13 Brandon Geller reported the theft of a firearm.

03/02/13 Police were called to O’s Tap in reference to a fight. The owner had asked three subjects to leave the premises after spilling beer on the pool table and a fight ensued.

03/02/13 Police responded to an incident involving a delinquent child.

Arrests:
03/03/13 Savanna Greene, 18, of Monterey, IN, arrested on preliminary charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Paraphernalia, Possession of a Legend Drug.

02/27/13 Devin Gast, 20144 Peach Rd., Culver, IN, arrested on preliminary charges of Driving While Suspended and an active arrest warrant through Marshall County.

02/26/13 Everett Bagley, 58, 6 N. Pearl St., Knox, IN, arrested on a preliminary charge of Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated.

Incidents:

02/26/13 – A caller from the 4800 block of North Range Road in Knox told police that a white GMC Astro van had stopped in front of her house and a male subject got out with a can in his hand, knocked on her door, and left when she did not answer.

02/26/13 – A resident of the 7700 block of South 300 East in Knox told police that someone had stolen a mobile office from her father’s property.

02/27/13 – A resident of the 2800 block of South Lart Lane in Knox told police that the occupants of a white van were pounding on her door.

02/27/13 – A scam phone call was reportedly received by a resident of the 8900 block of East 700 North in Walkerton.

02/27/13 – Police learned that a resident of the 4900 block of South 260 West in North Judson has been the victim of prank calls over the last several days.

02/28/13 – A resident of the 7100 block of East Childs Street in Monterey reported someone had called her and requested personal information, claiming to be from an employment agency.

03/01/13 – Police were told that someone had stolen a man’s social security debit card in the 300 block of South 1025 East in Knox.

03/01/13 – A car spun out and struck a school bus at the intersection of U.S. 35 and County Road 200 North in Knox.

03/01/13 – An unknown suspect reportedly broke a window at a residence in the 8500 block of East Toto Road in Knox.

03/01/13 – A handgun was reported stolen in the 1000 block of West 400 South in North Judson.

03/01/13 – Taras Nykoriak told police that someone had broken into one of his buildings in Knox, stole items, and caused damage to the building.

03/03/13 – Police received a frantic phone call from a woman who was crying and screaming, telling police a man was on top of her attacking her. Dispatch reportedly heard the male scream and the phone disconnected. An officer responded and reportedly learned no physical violence had taken place. The parties were separated.

03/04/13 – Medication was reportedly stolen from a residence in the 3900 block of South East Drive in Knox.

03/04/13 – Copper was reportedly stolen from a bank-owned home in the 10500 block of East State Road 23 in Walkerton.

Arrests:

02/26/13 – Shawn Gentry was arrested after his vehicle went off the road and he was discovered to be a wanted person.

03/01/13 – James Eric Messer, 32, of Knox was arrested on charges of Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated following a traffic stop.

03/01/13 – Amber M. Lain, 21, of Knox was arrested on charges of Manufacturing or Financing a Controlled Substance and Child Abuse and Neglect.

03/01/13 – Johnny Lee Mullens, 27 of Knox, was arrested on charges of Possession of Cocaine or Narcotic Drug, Manufacturing or Financing a Controlled Substance, Possession of Chemical Reagents or Precursors, Possession of Marijuana, Child Abuse and Neglect, and Possession of Paraphernalia.

03/01/13 – Paul John Esparza, 18 of Knox, was arrested on charges of Dealing in Marijuana and Possession of Marijuana.

03/02/13 – Joshua Alan Barlow, 25 of Knox, was arrested n charges of Resisting Law Enforcement, Public Intoxication, and Battery.

03/04/13 – After his vehicle was found in a corn field, Richard Wayne Hausmann, 59 of Knox, was arrested on charges of Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated.
