Incidents:
11/01/11 James Dolezal of North Judson reported to the North Judson Police Department that his debit card was stolen from his vehicle while it was parked at his home on State Street. The card was reportedly used 10 times between 6:40 pm and 12:10 am the night before. After an investigation, North Judson Police Chief Doug Vessely arrested 18-year-old Nickolas Rudd for Theft, forgery, and 10 counts of credit card fraud. He was transported to the Starke County Jail. Rudd is currently out on bond for a burglary charge involving the Grand Central Station.

10/31/11 The North Judson Police responded to a report of yelling coming from a home in the 400 block of Keller Avenue and conducted a welfare check on the occupants. During the course of the investigation, a woman was detained and taken for hospitalization as part of an Emergency Detention.

10/31/11 Officer Bill Scheiderer of the North Judson Police Department received a tip in regards to a vehicle that was damaged at the walking trail parking lot on State Road 10 a few weeks ago. After a follow-up, two male juveniles were reported to the Starke County Probation Department as being the culprits. A full report was furnished requesting charges and restitution.

Incidents:
11/06/11 A caller in Medaryville told police that a woman came to the caller’s house to report that she hit a deer with her vehicle. The woman said she was trying to get home from work and she was really tired. She was lost and had no idea where she was.

11/06/11 The Winamac Fire Department responded to a call that there is smoke in the building. The Manager at Arby’s called police to report the incident and he was told to get everyone out of the building immediately. There was no fire. A motor was smoking in the building and it was taken care of.

11/06/11 A Medaryville resident reported a hit and run accident. Caller said another car backed out and hit his and then left the scene.

11/06/11 A caller advised that he and his wife hit a deer in the Bruce Lake area. He told dispatch that they are ok, “but the vehicle was not”.

11/06/11 Caller told police that he hit a deer on 600 North, east of U.S. 35.

11/06/11 A caller in the Denham area reported that a building on his rented property was on fire. No one was in the building at the time of the incident. Monterey Tippecanoe Township Fire Department was called to the scene.

11/05/11 A caller reported that someone was using her Social Security Number.

11/05/11 A resident in Cass Township reported that a gate on his farmland has been severely damaged by a vehicle.

11/05/11 Caller advised of a small field fire that is creeping along toward an old barn. The fire is not huge but headed toward the structure. The Monterey-Tippecanoe Township Fire Department was called to the scene. More manpower was called to the scene.

11/05/11 The Winamac Police Department was called to a car vs. deer accident in front of All Seasons in Winamac.

11/04/11 Extra patrol was requested at the Winamac State Highway garage when an email suggested that catalytic converters were being stolen from parked vehicles.

11/04/11 A Winamac business reported the theft of gas, but the owner was contacted and it was taken care of.

11/04/11 A caller requested that an officer from the Winamac Police Department be sent to her residence as some unknown person hit her car while parked in the alley.

11/04/11 A Medaryville resident called to report a TV, laptop and Play Station stolen from his residence.

11/04/11 A Monterey resident called police to request an ambulance. He was burning leaves and something blew up in his face and has burned him badly. The resident was taken to Pulaski Memorial Hospital.

11/04/11 Caller advised that he hit a deer in Franklin Township. He was able to drive home, but needs a report.

11/04/11 Caller said that a deer ran into the side of her vehicle. The deer had bent the fender and broke a window. Damage was visible all along the right side of the vehicle.

11/03/11 A car vs. deer accident was reported in Pulaski.

11/03/11 Caller advised she swerved to miss a deer and hit a tree.

11/03/11 A car vs. deer accident was reported in the Monterey area.

11/02/11 A domestic battery incident was called into the Sheriff’s Department. An arrest was made.

11/02/11 A resident called and told dispatch that she hit a deer on her way to Parkview Haven in Francesville. No injuries were reported.

11/02/11 A car vs. deer accident was reported in the Monon area.

11/02/11 The hospital called the Sheriff’s Department to advise them that a 19-year-old male is in the ER and was shooting a high powered rifle at a metal target and a bullet fragment bounced back and hit him in the chest. DNR was notified but they determined that it was not a hunting accident.

11/02/11 A Medaryville resident reported that a dog bit her child.

11/01/11 A resident reported a car vs. deer accident in Franklin Township.

11/01/11 Caller advised that her camper was broken into. A TV was reported as stolen.

11/01/11 A Medaryville resident called police to report that someone has broken into her house and has completely trashed it. She said that this is not the first time this has happened. She told police that $3,000 worth of items was stolen the first time and now a lot more has been stolen.

11/01/11 A Winamac resident reported a lost license plate.

11/01/11 A Pulaski resident called to report that his neighbor’s door is open and it appears that it was kicked in. Police arrived and it was learned that nothing was taken. The case is still under investigation.

10/31/11 A resident called and needs a case number for a stolen vehicle that he believes was stolen in the last few months and then smashed and taken to the scrap yard.

10/31/11 A Star City resident called police to report the electric meter stolen from his home.

10/31/11 A grain bin dryer was reportedly on fire in the Beardstown area. The North Judson-Wayne Township Fire Department was called to the scene.

10/31/11 A Francesville student reported the theft of an iPod Touch. The students believes it may have been taken while at school.

Incidents:
11/06/11 Gary LeRoy of Crown Point called police to report that he hit a deer on State Road 8, ¼ mile west of U.S. 35.

11/06/11 Phillip Caudill called police to report that there was a passenger vehicle parked at Toto Road and 200 East and females were standing outside of the vehicle. He said when they saw him they got back in the vehicle and took off down 200 East. He advised they were traveling in excess of 100 mph.

11/06/11 A car vs. deer accident was reported on State Road 10 near 200 East. No injuries were reported.

11/06/11 Liam Durnan reported a kayak stolen. It was stolen on October 22nd, but he had to wait and get the serial numbers from his company before he could report it.

11/06/11 Brandon Davidson of Knox reported the windshield on his vehicle broken. He believes two people are at fault. Police are investigating.

11/06/11 Joe Fletcher called to speak to an officer regarding a stolen vehicle and money.

11/05/11 A caller in the 3000 block of W. 400 S. in North Judson reported that subjects in a log cabin are shooting across the roadway.

11/05/11 A resident in the 5000 block of S. State Road 10 in Knox reported that his home has been broken into. A double barrel shotgun and some beer were stolen.

11/05/11 Matthew Miller of Grovertown hit a deer with his vehicle on US 30 East of State Road 23.

11/05/11 A Koontz Lake resident called police to report that he hit a deer on U.S. 30 west of State Road 23.

11/05/11 A caller advised someone hit a deer on State Road 23 and it’s still alive. The deer was hit a couple of miles north of Washington Township Fire Department by the curves.

11/05/11 A caller in the 1100 block of E. 300 N. in Knox reported a car vs. deer accident. No damage was reported.

11/04/11 Terry Smolek reported his two axle trailer stolen while parked at his residence.

11/04/11 A resident in the 7100 block of E. 150 S. in Knox reported that he paid a guy to do work for him and the person has not completed the job.

11/04/11 Jaime Frasure of Walkerton reported a car vs. deer accident in the 11300 block of E. 875 N. in Walkerton.

11/02/11 A resident in the 4700 block of S. State Road 39 in North Judson reported the theft of a camera.

11/02/11 A Knox resident reported a car vs. deer accident at State Road 8 and 1100 East in Knox.

11/02/11 A resident in the 200 block of Main Street in Knox told police that he was threatened and a building of his was broken into.

11/01/11 Willodene Herrick called police to report a car vs. deer accident on State Road 10 and Marshall County Line Road.

11/01/11 An employee of Midwest Equipment reported the theft of 35-40 rims and a whole skid of aluminum parts stolen.

Arrests:
11/06/11 Wilgus Terry, of Knox, arrested on a preliminary charge of Possession of Methamphetamine.

11/01/11 Donald Kissinger, of LaPaz, IN, arrested on a preliminary charge of Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated Causing Serious Injury.

Accidents:
In all, 10 car vs. deer accidents were reported and covered by the Starke County Sheriff’s Department.

11/03/11 Sheila Tully, of Winamac, told police that she was traveling west on State Road 8 when a vehicle passed her and splashing water into her face, blurring her vision. She told police that she ran off the road and into a ditch that was full of water. The report states she was not otherwise injured.

Incidents:
11/05/11 Ashley Apple told police that her car was vandalized. The front passenger window was broken and the back of her car had a dent.

11/04/11 The manager of Dollar General reported that two men entered the business and were acting suspiciously. Five CD players were reportedly taken from the store. The items were returned, but the case remains under investigation.

11/04/11 Sheila Freet reported the loss of a license plate.

11/04/11 Danny Traylor, of Knox, was cited for Driving While Suspended.

11/02/11 The owner of O’s Tap spoke to officers to report that some unknown person(s) threw ice from one of the windows above the rear entrance.
