Mullins, Wireman Sentenced in Starke Circuit Court

Starke Circuit Court Judge Kim Hall sentenced two offenders in his court yesterday after they pleaded guilty in separate plea agreements with the state.

Avery Mullins pleaded guilty to a charge of Dealing a Narcotic Drug – Heroin as a Class B felony. Judge Hall sentenced Mullins to 10 years in the Department of Corrections with no part of that sentence suspended. If Mullins successfully completes the CLIFF or GRIP program while in prison, he may petition the court for a modification of his sentence. Mullins will serve this sentence consecutively with a previous sentence.

Aaron Wireman pleaded guilty to a charge of Counterfeiting and received a sentence of 30 months in the Department of Corrections with no part of the sentence suspended. He will serve this sentence consecutively with a previous sentence.

Brittany Griffith Arrested on Forgery, Fraud Charges

Starke County resident, Brittany Griffith, was arrested Tuesday after allegedly writing bad checks from her grandmother’s bank account without permission.

Griffith reportedly stole the checks after she was told to leave her grandmother’s house. She wrote bad checks to several businesses including the Culver Cove, Culver CVS and the Bottle Shoppe in North Judson. The investigation continues into this case.

Griffith has preliminary charges of Forgery, Fraud and Theft. Griffith’s boyfriend, Aaron Wireman, was also arrested and has a preliminary charge of Assisting a Criminal.  Griffith is currently being held in the Starke County jail.
