Voters in the City of Knox Primary Municipal Election have a chance to vote absentee today in the Starke County Clerk’s office.
The second-floor meeting room in the Starke County Courthouse is open to absentee voters today from 8 a.m. to noon and from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. CT. One more opportunity remains to vote absentee. The last chance to submit a ballot before Election Day is Monday, May 4 from 8 a.m. to noon.
Only a few opportunities remain to vote absentee in the City of Knox Primary Municipal Election.
Voters can cast an absentee ballot today from 8 a.m. to noon and from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. CT in the Starke County Clerk’s Office in the courthouse. In-office absentee voting is also available Monday through Friday next week from 8 a.m. to noon and from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. The courthouse will be open Thursday, April 30 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. CT in addition to regular voting hours in the day. The last two opportunities to vote absentee in-office are Saturday, May 2 from 8 a.m to noon and from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and Monday, May 4 from 8 a.m. to noon. The Primary Municipal Election is Tuesday, May 5.
Knox residents who plan to vote at the polling site in the Primary Municipal Election are invited to test the voting machines on Wednesday, April 15 at 10 a.m. CT in the second-floor meeting room in the Starke County Courthouse.
Clerk Vicki Cooley reminds City of Knox voters that registered voters in District 1, District 2, District 3 and District 4 may cast a ballot in the Primary Municipal Election. Voters will be at the polls on Tuesday, May 5. This year’s polling site for all districts is the Nancy J. Dembowski Community Center in Knox.
The Starke County Clerk’s Office welcomed nine voters Tuesday on the first day to vote absentee in the May 5 Knox Primary Election.
Incumbent Democrat Mayor Rick Chambers is seeking another term. He faces opposition from Democrat Dennis Estok, who previously served as mayor. Incumbent District 2 Councilman Ron Parker has drawn a primary challenge from fellow Democrat Priscilla Upp. Council District 4 incumbent Gregory L. Matt is opposed by Democrat Tim Manns in the primary. The winner of that contest will face Republican Anthony (Tony) Radkiewicz, Sr. in the November General Election. Democrats Bertha Blue and Dorine Barbara Godinez are vying for the Knox City Council At-Large seat given up by Linda Berndt. Incumbent councilmen Donald L. Kring and Jeff Berg are unopposed. So is Knox Clerk-Treasurer Jeffery J. Houston. Voters will choose between incumbent Republican City Court Judge Charles F. Hasnerl and Democrat Angelo Masuka in November.
In-office absentee voting for the City of Knox Municipal Primary Election begins today and will be available through Monday, May 4. Absentee voting hours will be from 8 a.m. to noon and from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday in the second-floor meeting room in the Starke County Courthouse. Evening absentee voting hours are available on Tuesday, April 21 and Thursday, April 30 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday absentee voting hours will be April 25 and May 2 from 8 a.m. to noon and from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Voters have two more chances to vote absentee.

In Pulaski County, absentee voting is available from 8 a.m. to noon ET in the courthouse and absentee voting in Marshall County is in the courthouse today from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. ET.
This is the last full week to vote absentee in the General Election.
So far, Starke County has reported 661 walk-in, mail-in and travel board votes. Marshall County has reported 730 absentee votes and Pulaski County has reported 278 machine votes this far.
In Starke County, in-office absentee voting is today through Friday from 8 a.m. to noon and from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. in the second floor meeting room in the courthouse. The same hours will apply for Saturday, Nov. 1. Evening voting hours are available tomorrow and Thursday, Oct. 30 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. CT.
Absentee voting is still available to those who will not be available to go to the polls on Election Day.
Marshall County has recorded a total of 353 of absentee votes so far while Pulaski County has had 147 absentee voters. The Starke County Clerk’s office reported 272 walk-in voters and 60 mail-in votes.
In Starke County, in-office absentee voting will be Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to noon and from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. CT in the second floor meeting room in the courthouse from now until Oct. 31. The same hours will apply for Saturday, Oct. 25 and Saturday, Nov. 1. Evening voting hours are available on Tuesday, Oct. 21 and Tuesday, Oct. 28 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. CT and Thursday, Oct. 23 and Thursday, Oct. 30 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. CT.
The first week of absentee voting saw quite a few voters filling out ballots for the General Election.
The Marshall County Clerk’s office had 129 voters while the Starke County Clerk’s office had 108 voters and the Pulaski County Clerk’s Office had 69 absentee walk-in voters.

Today is the last day to vote absentee in the May Primary Election.
As of Friday morning, the Starke County Clerk’s office reported a count of 643 absentee ballots and the Pulaski County Clerk’s had a count of 306. The number jumped quickly in Pulaski County during the past week.
You may vote in the Starke County Courthouse or in the Pulaski County Courthouse from 8 a.m. to Noon local time today. The absentee voting period for tomorrow’s election will close today at Noon.
This is the last full week in which you may vote absentee in the May 6 Primary Election.
Absentee voting in Starke County is available today through Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon and from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. The Starke County Courthouse will be open Tuesday and Thursday night for voting from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. CT. Voting will take place on the second floor of the courthouse. As of Thursday, 293 absentee ballots have been filed in Starke County.
The May 6 Primary Election is in less than two weeks. If you cannot make it to the polls on election day, you have the option of completing an absentee ballot.
Absentee voting in Starke County is available today through Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon and from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. The Starke County Courthouse will be open this Thursday night for absentee voting from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. CT. Evening hours will be available Tuesday, April 29 and Thursday, May 1 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Voting will take place on the second floor of the courthouse. So far, 245 absentee ballots have been filed in Starke County.
Absentee voting wrapped up yesterday in Starke County, but the totals aren’t all in yet. Clerk Evelyn Skronski told WKVI that 283 in-office ballots have been cast and 15 travel board votes have been collected. However, she said they do not yet have the total on mail-in ballots because they sent out 44 ballots and not all of them have been returned yet.
Voters in California, Center and Washington townships are eligible to vote in this special election, voicing their opinions on a public questions offered by the Knox Community School Board concerning a construction and remodeling project in the Palmer Wing at the elementary school.
The polls open today, giving the rest of the voters in the qualifying townships the opportunity to have their say in the matter. The polls will open at 6 a.m. and close at 6 p.m., and Skronski said they’ll have the final results around 7 p.m.
Voters who reside in the Knox Community School Corporation have until noon to cast absentee ballots at the courthouse in advance of tomorrow’s referendum. The outcome will determine whether a new wing will be added to the elementary school to replace the 50-year-old Palmer wing. Whatever It Takes Committee Chairman David Bullock says the school isn’t asking for very much money.

A total of 207 in-office absentee ballots have been cast, 32 mail-in ballots received and 8 travel board votes collected.
