Culver Moves Ahead with Minor Annexation Effort
The Town of Culver has moved ahead with annexing land for a future development.
During Tuesday night’s meeting, Council members considered a couple of items related to the annexation. The 13 acres resides in Union Township in the 500 block of West Jefferson Street. To properly bring utilities to the area, the owner petitioned the Town to annex the land.

The Town of Culver is preparing to annex several acres of land following a voluntary petition filed by the landowner.
Annexation was considered during Tuesday night’s Town Council meeting where the 13 acres is concerned. The land is situated in the 500 block of West Jefferson Street in Culver. The town now has a lengthy process to undergo prior to finalization.

Clerk’s Office Says Chances “Very Low” Unrecognized Resident Cast Ballot in North Judson Town Election
Officials with the Starke County Clerk’s office says they have methods in place to ensure residents cast election ballots in the proper place.
The comments follow the realization that the Town of North Judson did not properly file an annexation ordinance from 2001, and an ordinance outlining election Wards from 2012, with the Starke County Clerk’s office. Because the ordinances were not properly filed, the Starke County Clerk’s office is unable to recognize them until they’re recertified.
Culver Town Council Meeting New Legislative Challenge in Annexation Pursuit
The Culver Town Council is working its way through new guidelines for the annexation of property.
Culver is currently considering annexing land to its Northwest to increase the Town’s assessed valuation and potentially offer the land up for development. Surveys have been sent to the landowners affected by any future decisions. 22 have been returned.

Plan Commission Orders Additional Information In Annexation Talks
The Culver Plan Commission revisited the possible annexation of land to the northwest of the Town, last night.
According to the discussion, the Plan Commission considered the possibility of bringing land between State Roads 10 and 17 under the Town’s limits up until September of last year.

Culver Holding Preliminary Discussions on Annexation
The Town of Culver’s Plan Commission is considering a proposal to expand its city limits.
Preliminary discussions are scheduled for Tuesday’s Plan Commission meeting that would involve extending Culver’s town limits to the intersection of state road 10 and state road 17. That area currently lies northwest of Culver.
