Overwhelming public support of an elected North Judson-San Pierre School Board was not enough to overcome the estimated $15,000 cost to transition from the current appointed body. Members voted four to one last night to maintain the status quo. The most recent appointee, Derrick Stalbaum of Rich Grove Township, cast the lone vote in favor of transition via community committee. N.J.-S.P. Board Schedules Work Session
The North Judson-San Pierre School Board will discuss whether or not to transition to an elected board during a work session meeting this evening. The 6:30 p.m. session is open to the public, but no formal action can be taken. Members plan to review input from residents offered via Google survey as well as comments shared during a public meeting last week held for the sole purpose of letting the public weigh in on the contentious topic. N.J.-S.P. Board Defers Voluntary Resignation Request
The North Judson-San Pierre School Board last night deferred a request to voluntarily relinquish their appointed status to clear the way for the establishment of the first elected board in the corporation’s history. That happened after an hour’s worth of discussion and public comment before an audience of 150 or so people in the high school cafeteria. Continue reading
