Children may now enroll in kindergarten if they turn five before September 1, according to the draft meeting minutes. The Knox Community School Corporation has agreed to cover the cost of state-mandated background checks for current employees.
The Knox School Board is expected to hire a new assistant principal for the elementary school tonight. Cory Masson is being recommended for the position, according to the advance meeting agenda. Continue reading
The Knox School Board will soon be considering updates to policies regarding child abuse and employee background checks, among several others. Last week, Superintendent Dr. William Reichhart presented board members with a list of proposed changes recommended by policy consultant NEOLA.
Oregon-Davis is the latest area school corporation to expand its background check policy, as required by state law.
Policies adoption was the main focus of the Culver Community School Board meeting that took place Monday night.
Superintendent Karen Shuman said that some of the policies and procedures were already in place but the board needed to have a first reading in order for them to be entered into the system. She said one policy that was noticeably changed had to do with background checks.
