Culver Community Middle/High School’s new main entrance is just about done. “All glass is in,” Superintendent Karen Shuman told the school board Monday. “All rooms are created. All plumbing is into the nurse’s station. All painting is completed. All furniture has been delivered. And all carpet has been replaced that needed replaced. So at this point, we are just waiting for trim to be finalized and cleaning of the whole zone to make it shine.”

The North Judson Town Council continues gathering information about how to pay for potential water and wastewater upgrades. Commonwealth Engineers is suggesting nearly $1.9 million in improvements to the town’s combined sewer overflow system and another $1.5 million for upgrades to the wastewater treatment plant. Winamac Council Approves Sewer Rate Hike
Sewer rates will soon be going up for Winamac residents. The Winamac Town Council gave its final approval to an ordinance Monday, raising the sewer rate by six percent. Eric Walsh with accounting firm Umbaugh and Associates says the increase will allow the town’s Wastewater Department to save about half a million dollars in the long term, by refinancing one of its outstanding bonds.
