The availability of COVID-19 relief funding is giving Pulaski County an opportunity to install new security equipment at the jail. The county commissioners Monday agreed to let the Sheriff’s Office purchase a body scanner using $159,000 in federal CARES Act money.
Continue readingA day-long manhunt ended last night around 5:20 p.m. when officers from the Fulton County Sheriff’s Department, the Cass County Sheriff’s Department and the Indiana State Police located Westly B. Winn, 34 of Lucerne, hiding in a rural Fulton County home.
Earlier in the morning, officers from the Cass County Sheriff’s Department attempted to make a traffic stop on a vehicle Winn was driving. Winn allegedly drove the vehicle into a cornfield near Fulton County Roads 950 South and 600 West before he abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot. Officers from multiple police departments set up a perimeter in an effort to contain Winn.
The lives of three 19-year-old boys were tragically lost in an auto accident this weekend in Royal Center. Erron Stoddard of Winamac, Brandon Lee Miller of Winamac, and Bruce Leearmel Wireman of Culver were killed when their SUV crashed into the rear of a parked semitrailer. They suffered blunt force trauma with massive internal injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene.
